What is the difference between inlaid cues and spliced cues?

From the perspective of the process :Inlay Cues are crafted by CNC engraving the base wood of the butt sleeve, then inlaying decorative materials such as mica, or shell.Points/Inserts are divided into two types: full splice and floating points. Full splice involves gluing multiple wood veneers together; when cut, the cross-section reveals a pattern—often star-like.Floating points are quite similar to inlay work: a groove is carved into the cue’s surface, and a decorative patch is then applied.

In terms of hit feel, floating points/inlaid cues have an internal continuous maple sleeve, which provides a direct and uniform energy transfer. Thus, the hit closely resembles that of a solid maple cue—crisp, firm, and responsive. Since maple is relatively lightweight. In short, there’s little difference in feel between floating points and inlays.

However, full-splice cues tend to be noticeably heavier, because more splice layers mean more adhesive, which adds weight. Energy transfer must pass through interfaces of different woods and glue lines, where some vibration is absorbed and dispersed. As a result, the hit feels more “solid” or “muted,” with better dampening but a slight reduction in feedback clarity.

On the price,The real plug will definitely be more expensive.Like Shao’s ,Predator,Obright CH001 Carbon fiber Billiard Cue – Chongqing Obright Company, is real ,If it is floating, the process is relatively simple,So the price will be cheaper,The Snooker cue is actually engraved follow the patch or flower arrangement,There is no difference in price,Because the Snooker cue is required,it’s done by hand or inlay,You need labor put it on the machine, adjust the values and then cave it.
