To make a reasonable choice, one must first understand the characteristics about the two types of cues.Today,Obright (A billiard cue superior in China) editor will introduce these two types of cues to you.

In a word,The parameter design, material selection, and manufacturing process are all different.

The tip of the American cue is about 12.4-13mm,and the shaft usually made from maple, also some made from carbon fiber nowadays,Then, the production process includes illustration techniques(South West),sleeve technology(Panther),glued wood technology(Panther),and so on.The material of the butt is usually maple wood + ebony wood.Furthermore, the inlay technique was further improved to enhance the aesthetic appeal of the billiard cue.Such as Obright handmade cue CH001 with shells & mica inlaid. However,as we known, the inlay has little effect on the feel of the billiard playing, just some players pursue individuality and trends. The finishing process of the nine-ball butt is also very important, especially the application of the lacquer coating. The weight of the nine-ball cue is generally around 19-20 oz,which is suitable for the majority of enthusiasts, and the weight of the shaft should be kept within 5 oz for a more reasonable design. The famous brands of American cue  include:Predator, Fury, PERI, YEBAO, O’MIN ,Stealth,Action,Athena …

The tip of the snooker cue is recommended to be around 9.5mm,the standard length is 145cm, You can choose between 141 and 147 cm according to your arm span and personal preference. However, there are also very heavy ones.White’s cue weights 20 oz,which is just an exception. And its shaft is made from maple or ASH ,Maple wood is more elastic, the contact time of the tip with the main ball is relatively longer. It is easier to stun. The ASH wood shaft is stiffer, and the point of the ball’s trajectory is relatively less. The snooker’s butt is usually made by wrapping the shaft with four pieces of ebony wood and then shaping it.The illustration process is relatively simple. There are two types of snooker cues,1pc and 3/4pc,1pc snooker cue has a better force transmission performance, 3/4pc snooker cue is a bit more convenient to carry. But it seems there isn’t much of a difference either.Professional players tend to use more 1pc style cue,but 3/4pc style cue are also available. For general enthusiasts,it depends on their personal preferences.
